About Us
Rocket City Customs was founded in Huntsville, Alabama in the fall of 2013 by Lance and Katie Smith. What began in the back lot of a local storage facility has grown into a full-service classic car and hot rod shop providing restoration, service, paint and bodywork, fabrication, mechanical work, and custom builds.
Lance has been fascinated by cars since he was a toddler. As a teenager, after a brief stint driving quarter midgets, Lance and his dad bought and performed a frame-off restoration on his first car, a 1972 Chevelle SS—which he still owns today.
Since then, Lance and Katie have owned, restored, and enjoyed dozens of classic cars. What began as a passion and small operation eventually grew into Rocket City Customs as it exists today.
Over the years, RCC has assembled a team of painters, mechanics, fabricators, assemblers, and craftsmen who share an appreciation for keeping these cars on the road.
Whether the job takes a few hours or over a thousand, we're here because we love old cars and want to see them driven and enjoyed.
